Hawzah News Agency- The groundbreaking event for the “Shajareh Tayyebeh” school took place in Minab, attended by representatives of Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani and the Imam Husayn Shrine from Iraq, alongside provincial and local authorities.
According to officials, the original school building was destroyed in a missile attack carried out by the United States and Israel, resulting in the deaths of 168 students.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hormozgan Governor General Mohammad Ashouri condemned the attack, saying it led to the destruction of an educational center and the killing of a large number of students, teachers, and local residents.
He described the incident as further evidence of targeting of civilians, particularly children, and reiterated calls for international accountability.
Ashouri added that the reconstruction of the school symbolizes resilience and continuity, stressing that education would remain a priority despite the losses suffered.
The new facility is planned to include 12 classrooms and will be built on a 2,500-square-meter site, with a budget estimated at 75 billion tomans. The project is being funded and implemented by the Imam Husayn Shrine administration.
Officials at the ceremony emphasized that the initiative reflects broader humanitarian efforts led by religious institutions to support communities affected by conflict and to restore essential infrastructure.
Participants also highlighted the symbolic significance of rebuilding a school in the aftermath of tragedy, describing it as a message of perseverance and commitment to future generations.
The event concluded with tributes to those martyred in the incident and calls for continued unity and support for reconstruction efforts across affected regions.
